Nissan Puts the Brakes on Accidents

There are many safety technologies out there dedicated to helping drivers adapt safer habits on the road. However, when it comes down to the final, critical moment before an accident, even the safest driver can't always think straight. Thankfully, Nissan has done the thinking for you. Since 2005, the automaker has included Brake Override Technology standard across their entire lineup.
Some of you may have already experienced the life-saving system. But for those who haven't, let us explain. More often than we'd like to think, drivers simultaneously hit the brake and accelerator while panicking and trying to stop at a high speed. Normally, this situation would result in an accident. For those driving a new Nissan model, however, the Brake Override Technology steps in and overrides accelerator input, allowing the brake to successfully do its job. The system only works at high speeds and does not activate at times when a driver may be performing low-speed actions to try and gain traction on slippery surfaces.
In addition to Brake Override, Nissan also installs an Emergency Engine Shut-off System in any model equipped with Push Button Ignition. As you can probably infer, the system rapidly shuts down the vehicle engine at the persistent pushing of a button. We say "persistent" because Emergency Shut-off works only when the driver taps the button three times or for more than two seconds. That way, an accidental tap won't turn off the vehicle at an extremely dangerous time.
If you can't tell so far, Nissan is dedicated to creating effective safety technologies that will work when they're supposed to and won't when they're not. This is just one of the many reasons why Mathews Nissan is so proud to carry the brand at 185 Highway 76 Clarksville, TN 37043.
